Gail Levack is a Scottish artist based in Montrose, a coastal town in the North East of Scotland. Gail is particularly drawn to seascapes and coastal areas, a subject for which she is ideally placed, though she is often found hiking throughout the country in search of inspiration.
In her work, she uses elements such as the light, weather and sea states to capture the mood and emotion that her chosen location evokes. Gail often uses carefully positioned manmade elements within her composition to help depict the story of a landscape, such as a sailing boat in a safe sheltered harbour or a fishing boat that has succumbed to the wildness of its surroundings.
